RRTS Project

With a design speed of 180 kmph, the RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system. Costing over ₹30,000 crore, the RRTS aims to facilitate intercity commuting every 15 minutes, with the frequency increasing to every five minutes when required. The completion of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor by 2025 is expected to allow commuters to travel between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour.

Future RRTS Corridors

A total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified for development in the National Capital Region, with three prioritized for implementation in the first phase: Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar, and Delhi-Panipat.

Modi’s Vision for Progress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who flagged off the country’s first RRTS on October 20, 2023, termed the Namo Bharat train a glimpse of India’s promising future. Riding with schoolchildren on the completed 17-km stretch, he highlighted the nation’s commitment to progress. The full 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is on track to be functional by 2025, marking a significant milestone in India’s transportation infrastructure.
