Push-Pull Technology: A Game-Changer in Rail Travel

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the significance of push-pull technology during the inspection of the coaches and locomotive at New Delhi station. This technology involves the use of two engines – one at the front and another at the rear. While the front engine pulls the train, the rear engine simultaneously pushes it, resulting in improved acceleration and deceleration. The key advantage is reduced travel time, especially at bridges, curves, and speed-restricted sections.

Design and Features of Amrit Bharat Express

The aesthetic appeal of the Amrit Bharat Express is evident in its saffron-grey color scheme, resembling the iconic Vande Bharat trains. Unlike Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat is loco-hauled, featuring a WAP5 locomotive with 6,000 HP at each end, enabling push-pull operation. The train boasts a sleek design, with comfortable purple-colored seats, mobile holders, slider-based window glass, and a passenger information system. The coaches are equipped with 22 seats, including sleeper and general coaches, providing a cost-effective non-AC sleeper cum unreserved class service.

Amrit Bharat Express: Coach Composition and Other Amenities

The Amrit Bharat Express consists of 22 coaches, including general second class coaches for unreserved passengers, second class 3-tier sleeper coaches, and two guard compartments. Special provisions are made for differently-abled passengers and ladies. Passenger comfort is prioritized with amenities such as charging points at every seat, cushioned seats in general coaches, and specially designed ramps for wheelchair accessibility.

Amrit Bharat Express Route

Following the successful trial run, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw outlined plans to produce 20 to 30 trains of this model per month. Subsequent launches will include configurations ranging from general class to AC-II. The Amrit Bharat Express will make its debut journey from Ayodhya to Darbhanga on December 30, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The train’s extended travel option caters to distances over 800 km or journeys exceeding ten hours, offering a cost-effective solution for extensive travel distances.

Yet, the standard timeframe often falls short of meeting the demands of these intricate tasks.

In response to the challenge posed by the limited overnight window, railway employees and officials have devised a solution – the introduction of ‘mega blocks on Sundays.’ These mega blocks play a pivotal role in the comprehensive maintenance of the local train network, ensuring its sustained efficiency and safety.

Delving into the specifics, let’s explore the details of the upcoming Railway Mega block on Sunday 24 December, 2023. This strategic pause in train operations is meticulously planned and announced by railway authorities. CENTRAL LINE

Railway Mega block on Sunday 24 December: Central Line has announced Mega Block on Sunday 24 December for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works between Matunga to Mulund Up and Dn Fast Lines.

Time: 11:05 AM to 3:55 PM

Down fast line services departing CSMT Mumbai from 10.25 am to 3.35 pm will be diverted o­n Down slow line between Matunga and Mulund stations halting as per their respective scheduled halts and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule. Fast trains beyond Thane will be re-diverted o­n Down fast line at Mulund.

Up fast line services departing Thane from 10.50 am to 3.46 pm will be diverted o­n Up slow line between Mulund and Matunga stations halting as per their scheduled halts, will be re-diverted o­n Up fast line at Matunga and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

On Dn Fast line, the Last Local before the block will be Badlapur local leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 10.20 am and First local after the block will be Badlapur local leaving CSMT will be at 3.39 pm.

On Up Fast line, the Last Local before the block will be Ambarnath local arriving  CSMT at 11.10 am and the First local after the block will be Asangaon local arriving  CSMT at 04.44 pm

HARBOUR LINE

Railway Mega block on Sunday 24 December: Harbour Line has announced Mega Block on Sunday 24 December for carrying out various engineering and maintenance works between Panvel to Vashi Up and Dn Lines.

Time: 11:05 AM to 4:05 PM

Up Harbour line services towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai leaving Panvel from 10.33 am to 3.49 pm and Dn Harbour line services to Panvel/Belapur leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai from 9.45 am to 3.12 pm will remain suspended.

On Dn Harbour line, the Last Local before the block will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 9.30 am and will arrive Panvel at 10.50 am and First local after the block to leave CSMT will be at 3.16 pm and will arrive Panvel at 4.36 pm.

On Up Harbour line, the Last local for CSMT before the block will leave Panvel at 10.17 am and will arrive at CSMT at 11.36 am and the First local for CSMT after the block to leave  Panvel will be at 4.10 pm and will arrive Panvel at 5.30 pm.

Special train services during block period

Special local trains will run o­n Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai – Vashi section during the block period.

Up Trans-Harbour line services towards Thane leaving Panvel from 11.02 am to 3.53 pm and Dn Trans-Harbour line services towards Panvel leaving Thane from 10.01 am to 3.20 pm will remain suspended.

On Dn Trans-Harbour line, the last Local towards Panvel before the block will leave Thane at 9.39 am and will arrive Panvel at 10.31 am and First local after the block towards Panvel to leave Thane will be at 4.00 pm and will arrive Panvel at 04.52 pm.

On Up Trans-Harbour line, the Last local towards Thane before the block will leave Panvel at 10.41 am and will arrive at Thane at 11.33 am and the First local towards Thane after the block to leave Panvel will be at 4.26 pm and will arrive Thane at 5.20 pm.

WESTERN Railway Night Block on Sunday 24 December

To carry out maintenance work of tracks, signalling & overhead equipment, a jumbo block of four hours will be taken o­n UP & DOWN Slow lines between Borivali and Bhayandar stations from 00:35 hrs to 04:35 hrs on Sunday, 24thDecember,2023.

Toy Train from Neral to Matheran Resumed from November 4

The mini toy train service in Matheran recommenced its operations on November 4 this year. This quaint train comprises six coaches, including second class, a Vistadome coach, and second class-cum-luggage vans. During the monsoon season, the train service is closed on the stretch from Aman Lodge to Matheran station. But now, the entire route from Neral railway station to Matheran is open for tourists to savor.

From Matheran to Neral Toy Train Timings: For return journey, if you are planning a single day trip then, the train will depart at 2:45 pm and 4:00 pm from Matheran.

Shuttle Services between Aman Lodge and Matheran: Additionally, there will be six shuttle services in both directions between Aman Lodge and Matheran daily. These shuttles come equipped with second-class, first-class coaches, and second-class-cum-luggage vans for your comfort.

Neral Matheran Toy Train Ticket Booking: When it comes to booking your tickets, you can secure them at the Neral Railway Station counter just 45 minutes before your departure. Passengers in the second class can carry up to 5 kg of luggage, while first-class passengers can bring 7.5 kg. Each person can obtain a maximum of four Matheran toy train tickets from the station’s counter. You can also book your tickets from Mumbai or Pune, and it’s advisable to do so in advance during the peak season to secure your spot on this charming journey.

Neral to Matheran Toy Train Online Booking

Unfortunately no online facility available for booking Neral to Matheran toy train. This is mostly due to the limited seats available in the toy train. At a given point of time, only certain number of tickets are issued in the offline mode as well. Presently you can book Matheran Toy train ticket in Offline mode only. Recently Central Railways introduced a facility where you can book Neral Matheran Toy Train Tickets in advance to avoid disappointment on the day of travel.

Neral to Matheran Toy Train Ticket Price

The ordinary class fare ranges between Rs. 50 ad Rs. 160, while the Luxury class fare is worth Rs. 1352. Keep in mind, the ticket counter opens 30minutes in advance and its stopped once the all the seats fill in the toy train.

Matheran Toy Train Air-conditioned Saloon Coach: Ticket Booking Details

Central Railway has some exciting news for those planning to ride the Matheran Toy Train! They’ve introduced a special air-conditioned saloon coach for a more comfortable journey. This coach can accommodate eight people and is available for booking on round trips from Neral to Matheran, whether it’s just for the day or an overnight stay.

Do not confuse this with AC Vistadome coach. Vistadome coach tickets are available for individuals as well but this AC Saloon coach is available only for group bookings and in case no one books it, this coach will not be attached to the toy train!.

The Matheran Toy Train has been around for over 100 years, making it one of the unique mountain railways in India. Riding in the air-conditioned saloon coach is not just a unique experience, but it also adds to the joy of being close to nature and enjoying the peaceful surroundings of Matheran.

If you’re interested in booking the air-conditioned saloon coach, you can do so by paying 20% of the total fare seven days before your journey, along with a refundable security deposit. The remaining 80% must be paid 48 hours before the journey. If you fail to do so, the advance payment and security deposit will be forfeited, and your booking will be considered canceled. No refunds will be given if you cancel within 48 hours.

You can make bookings with the Chief Booking Supervisor at Neral or any nearby station on Central Railway. Payments can be made through UPI, POS, or cash. If you pay at a station other than Neral, make sure to share the money receipt number with the Neral office on the same day.

Temporary Halt for Trains at Uruli, Pune

Central Railway has recently revealed that 19 trains will have temporary halts during the festive period from December 27th, 2023, to January 17th, 2024.

In light of the annual Makar Sankranti festival at Shri Prayagdham Trust in Uruli, Central Railway has taken the initiative to introduce temporary halt for trains at Uruli for 19 trains. This decision is aimed at facilitating the higher influx of pilgrims expected during the festive period from December 27th, 2023, to January 17th, 2024.

Train no. 01151 / 01152 Mumbai CSMT to Thivim Christmas Special Train

Good news for the passengers of Konkan Railway and tourist who are planning to visit Goa during Christmas and New Year. Konkan Railway has announced ‘Konkan Railway Christmas Special Train 2023’ during these days to cater extra rush of passengers during this festive season.

Train no. 01151 / 01152 Mumbai CSMT – Thivim – Mumbai CSMT Special (Daily) will resume its operations from 22nd December 2023 and run on daily basis up to 02nd January 2024.

Train no. 01151 & Train no. 01152 Mumbai to Thivim Winter Special Train 2023 Time Table

Train no. 01151 Mumbai CSMT – Thivim Special (Daily) will leave Mumbai CSMT at 00.20 hrs daily from 22/12/2023 to 02/01/2024. Train will reach Thivim at 14.00 hrs on the same day.

Train no. 01152 Thivim – Mumbai CSMT Special (Daily) will leave Thivim at 15.00 hrs daily from 22/12/2023 to 02/01/2024. Train will reach Mumbai CSMT at 03.50 hrs on the next day.

Train no. 01448 Karmali – Panvel Special (Weekly) will leave from  Karmali at 09:20 hrs on Saturday, 23/12/2023 & 30/12/2023. Train will reach Panvel at 20:15 hrs on the same day.

Train no. 01447 Panvel – Karmali Special (Weekly) will leave from Panvel at 22:00 hrs on Saturday, 23/12/2023 & 30/12/2023. Train will reach Karmali at 08:30 hrs on the next day.
