New Train To Sonepur District
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express during his visit to Odisha’s Sambalpur on February 3. This railway service will mark the first direct connection to Sonepur district, linking four western Odisha districts: Sonepur, Balangir, Bargarh, and Sambalpur. The introduction of this train service is expected to bring significant benefits to students, farmers, pilgrims, and traders in the region.
As per reports, the regular operation of the weekly train will commence from February 8 onwards. The Puri-Sonepur Express will operate on Thursdays, while the Sonepur-Puri train service will be available on Fridays. Departing from Puri at 7:25 pm on Thursdays, the train will arrive at Sonepur at 5:30 am on Fridays. In the return journey, it will leave Sonepur at 7:30 pm on Fridays and reach Puri at 6:55 am on Saturdays.

Puri Sonepur Puri Express To Run From Feb 8: Puri Sonepur Express train 18421 departs from Puri Junction (PURI) at 19:25 hrs and arrives Sonepur (SNPU) at 05:30 hrs the next day. 18421 Express train takes 10 hours 05 minutes at a speed of 51 kilometres per hour across a distance of 518 km.
This train will operate on single day in a week i.e. on every Thursday.

Train No 18421 Puri Sonepur Express will halt at Khurda Road Junction, Bhubaneswar, Naraj Marthapur, Dhenkanal, Talcher, Angul, Boinda, Rairakhol, Sambalpur, Bargarh Road, Balangir, Bichhupali, Jhartarbha, and Narasinghgarh during its journey.
It runs between the Puri (PURI) in the Puri district and the Sonepur (SNPU) in Subarnapur district. Puri Sonepur Express train connects the Odisha’s Puri district to the Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, and Subarnapur districts of Odisha.

The first journey of Train No 18422 Sonepur Puri Express will commence from February 9, 2024.

Puri Sonepur Puri Express To Run From Feb 8: Sonepur Puri Express train 18422 departs from Sonepur (SNPU) at 19:30 hrs and arrives Puri Junction (PURI) at 06:55 hrs the next day. 18422 Express train takes 11 hours 25 minutes at a speed of 45 kilometres per hour across a distance of 519 km.
This train will operate on single day in a week i.e. on every Friday.
